My Two Legs vs. Their Twelve.

I suppose I have fallen off the wagon when it comes to the blog as of late.  As I sit on the couch and watch my 4-month old baby wearing 12-month clothes play quietly in the floor with a toy that I got for free from my Discovery Toys party, I try to think about what made me not keep up with the blog.  Then it hits me. Calypso jumps across my lap as she and Storm race around the house for the hundredth time today.  I need to get those two out more.  It's difficult to keep focus with a baby smiling and laughing at me from across the room.  Perhaps that is why I've quit blogging.  My life has become consumed with giggles, smiles, hugs, kisses and licks.  If I don't respond, I see fat lips, tears and crazy dogs racing around the house.  I am very blessed.

To catch you up with the happenings in our lives, Kyle is now 2.5 years old.  It is a very frustrating, trying time for all of us.  He is becoming a very independent little boy, but his language is mostly his own.  He is growing so quickly, yet verbal communication skills elude him. He is very smart and knows exactly what he wants, but his inability to communicate his needs is frustrating all around. I have faith that it won't be long before he learns how to orally express himself, and then we will overcome this little speed bump.

Weighing in at 10lbs, 12oz and 21.5" long, Tyler was born on January 6, 2010.  He is now 27" long, 2" longer than his older brother at this age.  I believe we have a tall one on our hands.  We are anxious to see how tall he is at 2 years old.  Generally speaking, if you double the height at 2 years you have the approximate adult size.  After battling acid reflux for a few months, Tyler has finally overcome his stomach troubles and has become a delightful, interactive baby.  He has recently learned to roll from his front to back and has a deep, throaty laugh when someone pays any attention to him.  It is hard to believe that we are already starting him on solid foods!

The other two kids, Storm and Calypso are going stir crazy because of all the rain we've been getting.  We managed to get in a short walk today.  Calypso has the advantage of agility training once a week, so she has an outlet for her excess energy.  That reminds me - at the kennel where we train, they have her listed as a "Jack Russell Mix." She is half Jack Russell, half Rat Terrier.  Why is Jack Russel more important than Rat Terrier?

So, what have we been up to? Justin has added graduate classes to his schedule, so even when he's here, he isn't always "here."  Between naps, meals, baths, tantrums and play I find time to take the kids to story time at the library every week and St. Louis attractions once in a while.  In all of this activity, I still manage to find some "me" time at my self defense class and at the farm once a week, and believe it or not, we even get "we" time playing volleyball on Sunday.  Sometimes, you may even find me running down the road, just me and my two legs, attached via stroller or leash to twelve more.
