I've been neglecting my blogging duties, and for that I apologize. This pregnancy has been 99% different from my first. The only thing I notice that is similar is that my tummy is growing (albeit at a seemingly faster rate,
picture). For the first few months, I spent time either on the couch completely sapped of all energy or in the lou losing all my cookies. Even after the first trimester was over, I would sporadically run to the bathroom a couple of times a week for a couple of months. By about 20 weeks or so, my energy level finally came back, but the baby is sitting so low that my hips often ache. There was one week that I was an emotional basketcase, and throughout the pregnancy I've noticed that my abs are very weak - it doesn't take much to feel a bit of a 'pull' in my lower ab muscles. Even rolling over in bed can cause some discomfort. My reward? Right now, I am feeling our son kick like crazy, and it is as amazing as I remember. I cannot wait to be holding Kyle's little brother in my arms in a short few months! The last ultrasound put the due date at Dec. 30, but I am hoping he hangs on until we get passed the holidays to make his birthdays a bit more bearable for him.
Here are the ultrasound pictures we have so far.
In August, we went on a road trip with a couple of friends to Washington, D.C. It was a blast! I was thoroughly impressed with the metrorail system, and I have to wonder why more cities don't follow that example? The week was full of walking, Smithsonians, walking, monuments, and more walking. While it was a thoroughly enjoyable vacation, it wasn't exactly restful.
Here are some pictures from our D.C. trip.
At almost 22 months, Kyle is as cute as ever. No, I'm not biased, just ask my mom. He is really getting into mimicking everything. He is trying very hard to talk - he's getting to where he not only repeats words, but he's starting to remember what they mean. He also knows several animal sounds and body parts. Not only that, but he has quickly learned the meaning of "time out." He loves to play with the dogs, and he is still very obsessed with basketball and balloons. I recently cut his hair fairly short, and now he looks more like a little boy than a baby. It's hard to believe he's going to be 2 years old soon! I think he's going to make a great big brother, even though he doesn't really know that he's going to be ousted as the only child in the near future.
Here are some pictures of him in the past couple of months.
